Travel (continued)TuscanyAs part of one of our Danish tour, we took a two-day train trip to and from Florence, Italy. On our way south, we spent a day in Munich, Germany and on the way back we spent a day in Zurich, Switzerland. The tour of Tuscany was a guided small-group (14 people) bus tour. It was advertised as a walking tour of interesting places in Tuscany. The bus driver let us off at the hotel and our guide walked us to places of importance in each city. Among the cities we visited were Florence, Siena, Lucca, and San Gimignano. |

We visited a lot of churches including the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi. Later we stood in a two-person bird-cage-like cable car in the ancient town of Gubbio for a scary ride up Monte Ingino to the Basilica di Sant’Ubaldo. It is hard to describe the walkway up to Civita di Bagmoregio, a city carved out of a mountain top. Google can show you more pictures of these places. |

While on the tour we discovered the sangiovese grape which is the major grape used in making Chianti wine, which must have at least 75% sangiovese. Chianti Classico Riserva will be 100% sangiovese. |
